Pre-2003 Dodge Durango
there was a recall on teh upper ball joints I believe. I have also seen some of the shift motor on the t-case fail for no reason. They are not a bad vehicle though as long as you take care of them. I wouldn't mind having one if I didn't need the use of a pickup truck all the time.
There are minor issues as with every vehicle, not sure why your asking pre 2003 tho. Durangos are the same from 98-03 with the exception of a few minor changes including an overhaul of the interior in 2001 and some varying options with the drivetrain (2wd/4wd/AWD)
I have a 03 durango r/t with the big 5.9. ive changed both upper ball joints factory ones dont have grease nipples after market ones do..they dry out and fail..can cause rollover if they fail. also if u have the big 5.9 dont expect good gas millage.
