does a 8 valve and 16 valve engine have same crank and tining

i bought a 8 valve motor at junk yard and put my 8 valve to 16 valve head in it at fits. i was back firing at the intake i
moved the distributor in hopes to set timing but now i am not getting nothing. are the cranks and blocks the same
regardless if you have 8 valve or 16 valve

no there not but there is a solution you need a cam degree wheel this will help with the timming issues because with 16 valve heads u have faster igniting combustion ratio
