My 2002 Chevy Tahoe LS will only go in drive ...everyone says it could be the linkage but someone just checked it and said the line look good

Sounds like the transmission is failing. Check the fluid level. If it's low, top it off. Remember to check it with the engine fully warmed up and idling. Transmission in park. Look and smell the transmission fluid while you're checking the level. It should be red or pink. If it's burned and smells bad the transmission is about done. HTH. - Jim
