1989 Chev. 350/5.7 Tbi The #3 cylinder keeps fowling out my spark plug. It misses really bad. It only has 100,000 original miles on it.
the #3 Cylinder keeps fowling out the spark plug, bad. It is very chard and
does have some oil on the spark plug. About every two weeks I have to
replace it. I have checked rest of the spark plugs and they are fine. I have
notice blue smoke, just a little when i start it for the first time each day. I am
losing oil somewhere. About a quart every two weeks.
Blues smoke is oil smoke, so you have a worn engine, with number 3 your biggest problem right now, so you can either mask the symptom and install anti oil fouler on the spark plug to give it a little more time or repair the engine, another plan would be a good used engine if you don't want to sink a lot of money in a rebuild. Not the best idea but it can work.
Running a dry and wet compression test may help you figure out if it is a valve guide, seal, piston ring or cylinder wall issue. If it is a valve guide seal it is a fairly easy repair.
