Water leaking at the bottom of the passenger side door onto the driveway. Where is the water coming from?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

After an overnight rain I have a large wet spot underneath the passenger side door. It seems to be coming from the buttons that attach the gasket to the bottom of the door.

Sounds like the water is leaking down into your door and filling up. Check the rubber gasket that sits horizontally at the bottom of the window "sill" where the window slides into. I had this problem with a Lincoln Town Car where the gasket had gotten cracked enough over time that it would allow water to build up in the door frame and "slosh around" when you drove. I drilled 3-4 small 1/8" holes in the lowest part of the door and it would let the water out without it ever building up. Sounds like you have a similar problem here.

I had this problem every time it rained. It didn't matter if I was driving or what time of year it was i.e. heat or AC on it didn't matter. Last week I noticed that the gasket on the cab air vent located between the rear of the bed and rear of the cab was broken and falling out. While it is in a bad spot in terms of getting you hands in there I used some silicon sealant and all is good now.

Water was coming trough the seal around door speaker on my 1999 Chevy Silverado. I have sealed every possible hole. Finally, I took a heavy trash can bag and taped it to the rear of speaker in the door. Water drains out through bottom of door. No more wet carpet.
