False Listings on Cargurus
I saw a listing on cargurus, called the dealership to confirm that the car was
still and set up an appointment for a test drive. When I arrived, they had me
test drive another car and said the car advertised was not there despite
telling me something otherwise over the phone. They said it would be
there the next day, it was being detailed. They transferred that car to the
dealership, but then raised the price by thousands. What is cargurus doing
to ensure that people aren't wasting their time with bogus bait and swap
Contact the Secretary of State and report your EXPERIENCE with this Politician... Ahh I meant DEALER!. Regards
CarGurus does not investigate the ads as this would be impossible. If I had went to that dealership and they started their bait and switch crap I would have walked out the door immediately. If the car was supposed to be at the detailer I still would have demanded to see it. The car business sometimes is an unpleasant crooked business. Just move on and find another car. It is always buyer beware in the car business.
Bob is tellin' it like it is- JShop, whatever gave you the impression that dealerships are anything BUT shark tanks? this is the way it has always been- hello
Thanks for the responses, I was just wondering if the website owners required dealerships to follow any rules in order to advertise on their site, such as; Don't advertise a car that you don't have...or....honor the price that you list..etc.,....I don't have time to drive around from one dealership to another to find out if their ad is real
Some dealerships don't play the rules. Car gurus is a listing site, and like Bob said there is no monitoring. Try to find a reputable dealer or lot that gets good reviews and you can trust, and buy from them. Get the car checked out by a mechanic before purchase. Good Luck
