I am told that when the gas gage is at 1/2 that it is not really so because the bottom of the tank is narrow..does not make any sense me but i am only a woman.

That is true, due to the shape of the tank the upper part of the tank is larger than the lower, so the upper holds more fuel than the lower part of the tank. Make sense now?
