Timing Belt on a 2003 Lexus ES 300/Who do I listen to???
I'm so confused as I never get the same story. I was told I have a nuisance leak in the right front and when the belt was replaced it would take care of it. Belt, WP and Pullies? 800, no mention of cam seal replacement or tensionser? Next guy, same as above only 650. I called lexus and they said 830 for the TB, WP and another belt. Again no mention of tensioners or seals for the cam. So confused any suggestions. Kathy
To do this job correctly, the cam seals, crankshaft seal, belt tensioner and pulleys, water pump, and the timing belt should be replaced. There are places that tend to fudge a little with some of the parts but eventually it will come back to bite them. As far as pricing goes that just depends on the shops labor rate and if they use flat rate books or straight time for the estimates. Hope this helped.
It's about 6 hours of work to do everything tennisshoes mentioned above. You can get the whole timing belt kit that includes everything he mentioned on ebay for around $280 which includes all OEM parts.
