Question type: General

My 2003 Saturn Ion is making a rattling noise underneath the e-brake. I looked inside but didn't see anything there that could be the cause. Could anyone give me an idea of what it could be?

Exhaust heat shield? Catalytic converter guts rattling around. Does the e brake work?

The e-brake works just fine. That's where I was confused....it gets louder when I have to speed up and then quiets down when I use my brakes

Hhhhmmmmmm.... I would still check the heat shields and maybe it has a broken hanger?. Take a look at the dust shields behind the rotors and drums if it has them.
