Front Strut leaking hydraulic oil
Asked by jclaudio0109 Mar 20, 2011 at 05:02 PM about the Lincoln Navigator
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I found oil leaking out underneath the front driver's side wheel well. Looks like hyraulic fluid. I assume it's coming from the strut associated with the air suspension system. What do I have to do to fix this? Is it just a matter of replacing the front strut and is it as simple as it looks (bolt and nut on bottom and three bolts on top. Does the new strut come filled with hyraulic oil or do i have to replace oil in system? Please help I have limited funds and would like to fix it myself if I can.

first, when you say strut, I am assuming it has a coiled spring around it? If so, make sure you rent a spring compressor to take the tension off while you remove it unless you dont like your teeth. Other than that, you will need to replace the strut. They come filled and sealed. Please award points if this info helps!

Sorry i gave bad information. It is an air shock there is no spring around it. It has a small metal oil filled container attached to it. looks like a small wd40 bottle. Thats the best way to describe it. The oil is leaking from this part.
