I don't know model year? I'm not a big fan of taking battery cable loose. Yes, sometimes it will help a module to reset. It can cause other problems like with your security system. A start and stall is common with security systems. Check applicable trouble codes see if anything related to security system?

Yep a 3 second shut down is the MO of the security system in active mode, look in your owners manual for the shut down procedure. After the security issue is overcome, you may experance a problem with some or all of the accessories not operating, if this has happened, then your headed for the dealer to have the system reflashed due to the power loss, it wiped the presets in the BCM.
