Bad miss and won't idle

Asked by Mar 24, 2014 at 08:14 PM about the Jeep Grand Cherokee

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2005 jeep grand cherokee that has a 4.7l. It has a bad miss and don't want to
idle. I changed the spark plugs and coil packs but didnt help. The check engine light is on
but code reads oxygen sensor but I was told by a dealer that wouldn't cause it. Anyone
got a clue what it might be.

What is the code? O2 Codes don't always mean the sensors are bad, your dealer is right. Check for vacuum leaks too.

The Positive crankcase Ventilation (PCV) vacuum system is leaking. At the rear of each heads, hose enters and do split, that will give you a random misfire, in turn will cause O2 not to read accurate.

I just bought a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Ltd. 4.7 V8 motor. Are there any problems with this engine? Is there anything I can do to help the gas mileage?

My 1997 Grand Cherokee did the exact same thing I woke up with a blown head gasket
