V8 swap into XJ?

Asked by Feb 18, 2010 at 12:18 AM about the Jeep Cherokee

Question type: Car Customization

Ive been thinking a lot about cramming a v8 into my cherokee. i know the gut reaction for everyone is "get a 350" but i wanna do something different.
I can get my hands on a 318 or a 360 pretty easy. Has anyone done anything like this?

Man you have to do a lot of fab work to do a V8 swap but if you have the knowledge and the money then go for it. I like the idea with sticking with mopar small blocks. So don't like the 4.0?

I love my 4.0 its a fantastic engine.. But I'm also power hungry lol

have you tought about stroking it,the strockers are very strong and fast,i got a 1990 commanche 4liter 5 speed and i was thinking about a v-8 too,for thr room it's ok

the only bug i see is 4 the pcm and tranny, transfer case configuration ,if you want to keep the 4wd,think about the tuffness of you axel, you might end up whit a big price tag
