What type of oil and filter number to change oil in 2002 grand prix 3.8 liter
Oil Brand is a matter of choice, conventional or synthetic...(personally I use synthetic but it's not absolutely necessary) probably 5W30 and they can tell you what filter at the parts house. But don't cheap out on filter and buy the cheapest one. All filters are not the same and a quality filter is VERY important
Oil filter PF47 and for more information see:Chapter 6 Page 67 http://www.pontiac.com/content/dam/pontiac/northamerica/usa/nscwebsite/en/Home/Owners/Owner_Resources/Manuals/en/us/2002/grand_prix/2002-pontiac-grand-prix-owners-manual.pdf
My '00 Grand Prix with the 3.8 uses 10W-30. The NAPA oil filter number is 1040. HTH. -Jim
Hi Fordnut. We were typing at the same time. Yes, the PF-47 is the AC Delco number. Also an excellent choice! HTH. -Jim
And don't forget, most people don't think about it... if you have a supercharger it must have an oil change also. See owners manual. it's the link.
Absolutely, the supercharger oil should be changed every 30,000 miles. There's a plug on the supercharger nose that is removed and special oil, available at your GM dealer is added. HTH. -Jim
