Well it depends on a few things. Is your grand prix a GTP or a GT? Your 2001 grand prix has a 4T65E Transmission with 2.93/3.29/3.69 gearing, if it is a GTP it has a 4T65E-HD Transmission every GTP has 3.29 Gearing. Your PCM ( Power Train Control Module ) Engines Computer, will have these settings programmed in. If the transmission is coming from a 3800 Serries 2 engine ( the same as yours ). It will DIRECTLY BOLT ON. But that does not gaurentee the PCM will accept it, and shift correctly. If you can find someone local that Does PCM preogramming, this can be an easy 5 minutes fix, otherwise stick with a 3800 serries 2 from: 97-02 Grand prix, Impala, Monte Carlo, Buick Regal. Good luck!
