Buying a used car based on mileage

I’m looking for a used Subaru Outback. I have found what
appear to be 2 well maintained cars. Both have
approximately 100,000 miles on them. One is a 2010 for
$9500. The other is a 2006 for $6880.
Would mileage on a vehicle be more of a consideration in
buying one of these and in turn saving money with the
older model?

No. Either car could be a gem or a messy lemon. You MUST have a dedicated Subaru wrench check them out. This isn't child's play, as NOTHING on these cars wears out with mileage except tires. You also decide whether you want the better handling of the '06 or the better fuel eco of the '10...even with its high bad CVT risk.
If all else is equal I would go with the older car. 100k means it is about due for a timing belt so take that into consideration.

Easy, FOR. The t-belt's condition is MUCH more predicated by age, and not mileage. If not already replaced, it's the TWELVE year old one that's over-ripe for replacement, not the 8 yr old.
