Is the wiring harness and computer box for a '97 Subaru Legacy Outback 2.5L DOHC engine compatible with a 2.2L SOHC EJ22 engine? Both engines are automatics.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My mechanics are having to replace the wiring which burned when the 97 Subaru
Outback's 2.5L DOHC engine's head gasket blew.  They're wondering if the wiring harness
and computer box from a 2.5L DOHC engine is compatible with a 2;2L SOHC EJ22
engine?  No one seems to know!!

I think you have the wrong mechanic, seriously. I don't have an answer for you, but, I can tell you this. My mechanic, is an excellent diagnostician, and you can find one as well who will figure out what needs to be done and fix your car. The last thing you want is someone who works on your car and uses you as a guinea pig. A true professional will figure out what's wrong and get it done. That's what they do. GOOD LUCK.
