can you swap motors?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

can you take a motor out of a 2007 forester and put it in a 2007 legacy both
cars are auto and have the 2.5 sohc

I would say so. The only variable I can think of is one could be 50 state smog legal and the other one could be 49 state. If so you might have to swap some sensors and smog devices.
