My 2002 mountaineer check engine light is flashing, and seems to have trouble acculturating.

go to autozone or someplace and have the code scanned. could be a throttle position sensor or something, but the code is there.

A flashing check engine light is warning you that the engine is misfiring and damaging the catalytic converter. If you have over 100,000 miles on your Mountaineer you're due for a tune up. HTH. -Jim
