i have a 1997 ranger 2.3 a friend put new seats in valves when i put head on truck set timing marks were there supposed to be it back fires wont start and blew dip stick out how do i know were valves

It is most likely that your friend did not rebuild the head properly. If you lined the marks up correctly and it backfires either the marks aren't lined up correctly or you have a bad valve job! Take it to an ford dealer they know what they are doing!

Double check all of your timing marks. The Cam on it's mark, Crank at TDC and distributor rotor at #1.
