2001 Ford F350 7.3 diesel need to rebuild
transmission can I use Mercon 5 or full synthetic
oil in the transmission

Use what is specified. My 2002 Ford uses Mercon V. I believe Mercon V is synthetic.

Since you tow add a deep oil pan and a fan assisted cooler. Install a trans oil temperature gauge too.
