What causes A/c clutch not to ingauge

A/c was working fine, mechanic change the wire harness and now the clutch would not in gauge. Hooking it up directly clutch it would in gage, when a/c is turn on from inside you can here rpm drops like its on but a/c isn't in gauging.
Please assist in solving this problem.

Use a test light and see if you are getting power to a/c connector when turned on.
