I have a 77 F150, 351V8, rear wheel drive, C6 transmission. You can pull up to a stop sign and it will slip in 1st gear. You gas it to pull off, the engine turns, then the gear grabs. Ideas?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

You stop at a light still in drive, you pull off and the engine starts to spin but
the transmission grabs after that.  It is around a second after you hit the gas. I
have changed the transmission module, and really don't know what else to do.

did you service/change the fluid and filter and clean out the cooler lines? if so then sounds like pressure/clutch discs are shot...

Thanks for the idea Kelly. I have not tried fluid and filters yet. I just bought the truck about a month ago, and had to change the power steering, alternator, transmission module, oil, and some wiring. This is an automatic c6 tranmission. I think I forgot to say it was automatic. I'll try fluid and filters over the weekend.
