There are a number of things that can cause this concern depending upon the year and engine in your vehicle. Please tell us the year and engine size. Anything else you can add helps (recent repairs, accidents, modifications, etc)

If it is running like it is getting to much gas, they I would assume the engine is racing above normal idle. It is only at startup when the engine is cold? Today's engines idle fast at startup when cold to get the engine up to normal operation temp. As stated before, tell us your engine type and model year.
