my car won't crank

I have a 2007 Ford Escort it won't crank it's only
making a clicking sound as in the engine wants to
turn over but it won't what could be wrong

dead battery, no question, try charging or more likely need to be replaced

Try jump starting the car, if it starts then you know you have a low battery, and then either the battery is old, and doesn't hold a charge, or there is a charging system problem.

You have a dead battery Make sure the car is in park also

Check your timing belt. You might need to replace it. Check all your sensors , lights and caps
