is it okay to by-pass the reset button for the fuel pump on a 1993 ford escort LX

driving down the road the car just dies and i havent been able to start it since.

Yes as long as you do not get in a accident thats what the reset is for. It will shut the fuel off so there is no fire

You will have to isolated/diagnose that it is the fuel inertia switch that is causing your problem. Your fuel pump might be the real issue or a totally different issue. Any CEL on?
