Oil Cooler Removal for Gasket Replacement - HELP PLEASE!!!

Asked by Jan 28, 2011 at 11:41 PM about the Ford E-250

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Trying to remove the oil cooler to replace gaskets as I think it has failed and mixing oil and water as I have peanut butter in my radiator and oil pan. Can any one help as the Haynes Manual has almost a paragraph about the oil cooler and thats it!

This is for the 5.4L V8 in the E-250 econoline van!

Thanks for your time!

I doubt it is the cooler, sounds like it has a blown head gasket.

had same thing-- had chocolate milk in overflow tank-- thought and told head gaskets -- pulled engine out of 2003 van- not fun - pulled head gaskets- they looked good - machine shop said heads good - .005 shave -- changed timing chains (275,000 miles)-- back in and running --THEY said it could have also been warped or cracked intake manifold - put a new one of those on too fired it up 11/13/17-- We'll see??
