Do you have to pull the gas tank to replace a charcoal canister on 2007 Avalon?
Check engine light came on and dealer says I need to replace the charcoal canister Part
number 7774007020. I can buy one for $215 and would like to put it on myself. Shop
time estimate is 3.5 hours. Does the gas tank need to be removed? Any advise would
Those CCs came into being when we realized that gas vapors were being released into the atmosphere through the gas tank vent- so now, the released vapors are filtered thru the canister before venting- they have been on cars since the '70s- is it necessary to replace one? Do they reach saturation? Is yours located by the gas tank? I don't know, but it sounds suspicious to me- I would get a second opinion-
