Toyota Camry Hybrid tech question

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Just purchased a new (22) Toyota Camry Hybrid. This is a ...  ummm ...

complicated car. Looking for a reliable (and safe) place to pick up a constant

source of 12V DC to run the requisite Mouse repeller. Already tried to pick a

feed up from the fuse box and it cost me 330$ bucks to effect the (apparently)

necessary repair. Plugged it into what I thought was an unused "live" slot.

NOPE! Any iron clad advice would be appreciated. Thanks. (I assume I will only

need a 12V power source and return the other lead to the vehicle's chassis)

This is a low current device and could be run directly from the battery. Remember, anything constantly running like this will eventually drain the battery. Hopefully the current draw will not exceed your battery capacity.

Thanks for the help, folks. I Iike the idea of the separately powered mouse repeller. I have a 110 plug nearby. Such a repeller doesn't need to ride along with the car. What I was curious about is if there's any place under the hood where I can pick up the 12 volts from the battery directly. Trying to draw it out of the fuse box (although I had no problem finding the voltage) turned out to be a bad and expensive idea ... a little embarrassing as well. The electronics are apparently too delicately balanced to tolerate an unexpected load at an unexpected place. This isn't a 1950s Chevy Nomad.
