Yes if it,detect,s a knock,it will kill engine fire to keep from damaging the motor.

but I drove it to the store and I got ready to go it wouldn't start just turn over like it wanted to start and sound as if timing is off

Check the crank,sensor,if you are getting fuel.

I have a 97 Nissan Maxima it will crank but it won't start can you tell me what the problem is
