How to read old speedometer

Asked by ONELL Apr 11, 2017 at 07:03 PM about the Ford Grand Marquis

Question type: General

Im looking to buy a old grand marquis that
speedometer  shows 04932 on it.  The
gentleman selling it said its the correct
mileage.  I thought it being a 84 model the 0
at the beginning means its already rolled
over 100,000.  How do I read this correct
and what is the correct mileage?

You are right with it rolling over at 100,000 miles and there is no actual way to know how many times it has rolled over. If this car only had 04932 miles on it, it would be worth a lot of money and the car would be immaculate condition. So there is must be at least over 100,000 miles on her.

My first vehicle I owned for 17 years with a speedometer like this, I rolled it over 5 times with 4 different motors.
