Will Mazda RX-7 engine function properly in an NSU RO80 W/ semi-auto.Gear - 1968 model .
If positive, kindly advise if an authorized Mazda garage can perform the replacement,
what is the best pace to buy that engine.
Thanking you all in advance.
you can buy Mazda 12A engines online- use the carbureted one- the NSU is front drive, however, and uses that bizarre semi-auto tranny- so, you see, your problems with the NSU are gonna be more than the unreliable and dubious engineering of the engine- since you can't use the Mazda tranny, (RWD) only you will know if the engine will mate to the NSU bell housing- somebody must have tried this, so before you go tearing your NSU apart- find a NSU/Audi forum and see if you can find info on this- my thoughts: probably won't work- why would you want to, to daily drive your NSU?! just buy an old Mazda rotary coupe- the Japanese are the only ones who ever got this engine right
Yes you can. You need an adapter plate between the engine and Tranny, and you need to make a new motor mount across the front (combo of NSU and Mazda). Need adapter for power steering pump. Different wiring. Oil cooler, and you need a reducer to run the torque converter off of the engine oil. There are other things, But it can be done. And it works very ell.
