Will a transmission off a ford escape work on a mazda 626

They both use the CD4E, but is the one off the Escape a FWD only? I'm not sure 100% sure if it would work, anyone else?

They both are 2wd and another guy told me if they both are the same year model it should work but he wasn't 100% sure either... I guess ill just have to try it and see.. I think it will work though
