Why do some dealers put N/A on a vehicle's mileage in their ad?

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

Why do some dealers put N/A on the mileage when the CarFax clearly shows
the last mileage of the vehicle at a recent date? The car in question has a little
over 82,000 miles on CarFax just last month. But, the dealer put N/A in the
description of the car. This makes me wonder if the engine is blown. Any
dealer who doesn't include all the info on their ad or pictures of the vehicle
inside and out don't seem trustworthy, and I don't want to buy from them.

Probably too lazy to go out to the car lot and check the miles. Don't buy from anyone you don't trust!!!

It might even mean that the car hasn’t accrued any miles on it, because it measures in kilometers instead, like how my car has an option on the speedometer for either miles per hour or kilometers per hour. Just kidding! lol Why not just talk to the dealer and ask them why they put “N/A” in the description? It's likely what F_O_R said, but it couldn’t hurt to see what they tell you. Hopefully obvious point here, but any reputable dealer will give you an honest answer, even if it may seem silly or stupid. Trust the CarFax, and trust your gut; if the dealer/seller seems a bit fishy, he/she may very well be, and hiding who–knows–what from you. When in doubt, and I can’t stress this enough: always, always, ALWAYS take it for a test drive — around your city, on a highway or interstate some, everywhere you can think of. Even if the dealer comes with you. At best, you’ll know how it drives and how well it handles wherever you may drive (if you were to purchase). Merely taking it simply around the block — as I’ve seen some folks do here — certainly will not give you a better feel of what may be wrong with it (or what repairs are likely to be necessary). Best of luck!
