Unidentified metal object

Asked by Guru9RB6YG Jul 29, 2022 at 01:17 PM about the Chevrolet Spark

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Recently had some body work done on my 2015 Chevy Spark. This metal
object (photo) was left in my car. Does anyone have an idea of what it could
be? Is it a critical part that could affect the safety of the vehicle.

Looks like a damaged exhaust pipe shield. Was there any damage underneath the vehicle?

Chevy spark has a 1.2 liter 4 cylinder engine. So it’s not an EV.

Looks like a heat shield for the exhaust system and yes it's important. They put things like that on the vehicle for a reason. Like so the glue that holds the carpet in place doesn't get too hot and smell or possibly even catch on fire! Take it back and let them put it back on. Hope that helps! Jim
