steering locked but starts

what could cause a steering wheel lock up when the key turns and car starts
right up as normal? I drove the car into my parking spot last night and now it
wont turn right i checked everything underneath nothing is binded there its as
like the steering lock pin is still engaged

Just when making right turns? What about left turns?
