That's because you have your information mixed up. The first letter is the designation of what series car you have from BMW. 330d is a 3 series. If it was a 5 Series it would be a 530d. The 3 series 330d is a diesel. Your insurance company should be able to tell what car you have from the VIN. Surprised they are asking you.
