I have a 1967 C10 and someone has put in a "Vortec" engine it with a 700R4 tranny. I'm trying to find out if I can know what size it is and how old the it it. The engine has an aluminum edelbrok intake with a holley 4 barrel. I can tell it's a late model engine from the serpentine belt. It reminds of the engine I had in my '99 silverado. I can post a picture if that will help.
They made 3 Vortec's, a V6 and 2 V8's, the most common was the 350 in pickups and the one most likely used, the big one was the 454 and it would be fairly obvious if you had that one. Plus I doubt they would back up a 454 with a 700r4 tranny. So if it's not a V6 I'm betting on a 350. A pic will confirm that.
Here's a picture of the motor in this truck. With the power I'd have to guess a 350.
I apologize for posting in the CK area, I missed the C10 in the drop down menu.
No sweat, and yes it is a 350, the 454 would have low rounded valve covers and would not be that size.
