OD Off means that you've pushed the button on the end of the gear selector handle and locked out Over Drive (4th Gear). You don't generally need to cancel Over Drive except when going up a hill that keeps the vehicle shifting gears between 3rd and 4th, then you simply lock out 4th so you can pull the hill smoothly and then engage 4th for gas mileage when you're over the hill. ----With a full time job as a mechanic, I and many of my fellow technicians can't get to this site to answer questions until we get home and have dome down time. Also - we do this work all day, sometimes in our off time and usually while we sleep! Please be patient with us - it's our time and expertise - voluntarily.
