my 1.8 petrol engine light does not come on and the car is not read on a diagnostic computer. what is the cause and solution.

usually its the computer itself, sometime also the wire at obd connector,jack, 16 pin L to R top 8 lower 8 last is 12 volt, pin 16,, 4 and 5 is ground key on check with volt mtr.
