Where and what is it

Connectiion is Missing . What hose and diameter
is this and where does it lead too. It's a cylinder
underthe engine. I want to replace both parts . The
one coming from air intake which I believe goes to
that black nipple piece. But where does the open
nipple hose connect to. Having performance
issues. Could this solve it.   Iidle when the air is on.
