Asked by Sep 30, 2016 at 11:25 AM about the Ford F-100

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

It is spiting oil. It looks similar to the one the dip stick tube is plugged into.

As you did not say what engine and year I am going to assume it is a big block and some of the Ford big blocks had a dipstick tube in the front of the engine. A picture would really help.

this is a 83 f100 4.9L6. I thought that might be the purpose for the hole as well. How would you suggest plugging the hole? What can I use that will withstand the engine temp.

You can see where the dipstick is in the pic. Double click to enlarge.

Thanks for your help. My dipstick is actually toward the rear of the engine. After the 1st reply I assumed the hole was there so the dipstick could be in either location. I plugged the hole and solved my oil leak problem.
