All Mercedes have a side exapansion tank so there is no cap on the radiator itself. There will be ahose leading from the side of the radiator to a secondary unit - follow it and it should lead you to a BLACK unit with a cap. The WHITE units are for windshield/headlight washer fluid..... Always fill the radiator with the engine running and cool to warm - NEVER HOT. If you fill an overheated engine with cold water you may crack the block.

Does the 96 and 97 benz have the same engine
