how to identify wires on 2 rear chassie leads for trlr hook up

one lead has a rubber boot 2 wire male connector, the other lead has a rubber boot 4 wire male connector, would like to identify both leads so i can attach to a 7 wire round female hitch trlr recrepticle. which also has an attached 4 wire flat male and a 4 wire flat female plug for smaller trlrs.
