Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just bought this van for $250 from a coworkers family. It had been sitting for
5 years and wont start from the ignition. We were starting it from the
solenoid. It would start up everytime. We just replaced the solenoid because
thats what we thought would fix the ignition start. It wouldnt start from there
so now we think its a bad wire We started it up using the solenoid twice after
replacing it. It now refuses to start at all. What to do? Its a nice van and the
only problems with it is the ignition starting, and high idling. Why is the van
not starting using the solenoid anymore?

Check the following: starter relay, wiring to starter motor/solenoid, ignition circuit, especially the ignition switch underneath the lock cylinder in the column. For the high idle look for a vacuum leak near the intake and PCV.
