Hi Graham, I have the 5 door Stilo and I used to have exactly the same problem... the noise is coming from the rear subframe ball joints... The local dealer claimed that rear subframe should be replaced. I did my findouts on Stilo forums online and I now can confirm that the bellows can be actually replaced... reducing the cost from €1000 to €35 !!
