Small pik stuck dowN in engine block below oil sending unit.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was changing the oil sending unit on my 2005
z71. I thought my truck had a screen filter below
the oil sending unit so like an idiot I was trying to
pry with a small little makeshift screwdriver tool. It
turns out they didn't make that filter until 2007.
The tool shaft came out of the handle and fell
down  and thru another smaller of 2 holes where it
now seems to be hung up on something. I bought
a cheap borescope and ran down the same hole. I
can see the top of the  tool shaft move when I
manually turn the crank with a socket. I cannot get
the tool out even with a magnet. Ive also removed
my oil pan and dont see the tool in the crank and
cant see it on top of the cam. Does anybody know
where that Tool might have ended up as it fell
down thru the oil sending unit tube? Am I going to
have to pull my engine? Please help.

It's probably sitting on a camshaft bearing journal in an oil passage. Try getting it out with a small pair of tweezers, or ground down needle nose pliers.
