how do i know my 4x4 auto is on? lights on instrment panel for high and low nothing for auto

You may have a burnt-out bulb, or you may have a problem with the vacuum switch that engages 4 wheel drive. Suggest looking at the owner's manual to see what it says about where and if a 4x4 Auto light should be on.
