how do i tell if my transmission is OBD1 or OBD2

It's a '95, so it's OBD-1. OBD-2 started in 1996.

Yep, that's right. And no, and OBD2 tranny will not work in and OBD1 vehicle or and OBD1 tranny work in an OBD2 vehicle.
