Hello Leroe-- If you were studying to be an automobile mechanic, it would take at least several weeks of your studies to learn how to properly install a clutch in a car like your 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier. I can't condense it all down to this page and bring you up to speed that quickly. I will send you to a site which will show you what you are up against, although I recommend that you let a trained mechanic do the work. Go to-- http://autozone.com/az/cds/en_us/0900823d/80/19/25/a6/0900823d801925a6/repairInfoPages.htm. Good luck from Bovan.
